R-4 用于手动测量不同深度土体的沉降或隆起，使最终用户能够创建沉降/隆起曲线。
R-4 由安装在刻度卷尺和卷轴上的磁性簧片开关组成。开关由安装在钻孔通道管或路堤/填方内不同高程的磁性目标触发。
R-4 沿通道管下降时检测提升管外磁性锚的位置。探头由单条集成电气导线的刻度卷尺悬挂。卷尺刻度用于确定探头相对于磁铁的精确位置。比较这些位置可确定隆起和沉降。
磁性锚提供三种配置：用于钻孔安装的簧片弹簧锚、用于路堤或填方安装的板锚，以及直接固定在通道管底部管段的基准磁铁。簧片弹簧锚可推入就位或随通道管下降并用外部拉线释放。板磁铁是带中心孔的板。板磁铁在填方作业进行时安装在提升管上方和已铺设填方层之间。
预期变形超过 1% 时使用伸缩联轴器。R-4 系统与标准测斜管兼容。建议使用探头定中器以获得可重复读数。
